Discover How to Easily Download All Your Twitter Updates

Your Twitter account automatically saves all the tweets that you have already posted. But after posting more than a few dozen, it can be a challenge to search through a whole bunch of different pages in your profile to find the posts you want. You can use the Twitter search engine but that can also be a bit of a hassle to find your own post. You can Import your tweets into Excel for easier viewing and searching.
If you want easier access to your Tweets, and want a local backup copy of all your updates then you need to download your updates on your computer. You can do this right from your internet browser by entering a special address that uses the following code:
Twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/account.xml/?count=n
Here, you need to replace "account" with your Twitter account name and replace "n" with the amount of tweets you want to return. If you want to return all of your tweets, simply log into Twitter and check how many users are following you (by checking both the Profile page or Home page) and plug that number for the value of "n".
What you will find on your web browser are a bunch of confusing codes this is called XML 9extensible markup language) format.
Now save the data bus choosing File, Save As and choose a location to save the file onto and click Save.
(You may also use a program called Tweet Scan which offers a download feature. It does however require your username and password).
If you have Excel 2007, you may import the XML file into a worksheet to easily view, search, ect. your tweets. Here's how to do this:
1. In Excel, click the Data tab.
2. In the "get External Data" group, choose "From Other Data Sources" and Click on "From XML Data Import". A dialog box should appear.
3. Navigate to the XML file location, click the file, and then click Open.
4. Click OK.
5. Click the cell where you want the data to appear, then click Ok.
6. Choose File, Save As, And then save your downloaded tweets where you please.
As you can see downloading your tweets is easy, but using this method your tweets become out of date as soon as you continue to update new tweets. So you may to perform regular downloads. Luckily you can use a different method by using a unique ID value. You may now download t=just the tweets you've posted since your last download.
Twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/account.xml?since_id=ID
Again, account is your Twitter username and ID is the ID value for the latest tweet in the previous download.
For example, my latest tweet from my @WilliamCoquerel account has a value of 1334587993, so I download every tweet since that post by entering:
.../WilliamCoquerel.xml?since_id=1334587993
